Let’s kick off our 2024 gaming anniversaries list with a look at some of the big game anniversaries for January! It’s a quiet month compared to recent years, but we do have the 25th anniversary of Nintendo’s flagship fighter, Super Smash Bros. and the 35th anniversary of the super challenging sidr-scroller, Golden Axe. Also with a milestone gaming anniversary are Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, plus Worms Armageddon celebrating 20 years.

February is a far more packed out month in our 2024 gaming anniversaries list. The month starts strong with anniversaries for Simcity 3000 and Harvest Moon turning 25. Two big heavy-hitters from the 90s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Super Street Fighter II Turbo turn 30. There’s also a big milestone for classics like Metroid: Zero Mission and Silent Hill. One of the oldest in the list also turns 40, Nintendo’s meaty brawler Punch-Out!!

Nintendo’s iconic GameBoy console takes centre stage for April’s gaming anniversary list. The handheld powerhouse (DMG version) first landed 35 years algo in Japan, taking the world by storm.
