Caught up with one of the biggest Nintendo fans around, Supertendo on a passion for Nintendo, collecting amiibo and more!
1. Hey Tendo! Tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got into gaming?
Sure! My name is TJ (also known as Supertendo, or Tendo) and I’ve been gaming since I was 5 years old! My first game I ever played was Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Ever since I held that NES controller, I’ve been playing video games ever since!
2. Have been following your journey on Instagram, loving your posts & fun reels as @supertendo_! What made you start a gaming page?
Originally my page was just a variety hobby page, nothing too in particular. I started collecting stuff around 2011, and my collection was very, very small back then.
From comics to action figures, to Nintendo collectables and more, my page was all over the place. I went through a lot of name changes and content focus before I finally decided to “Supertendo” and focusing on Nintendo and gaming related content. Gaming is one of my passions and I pay a very crazy amount of detail to everything.

3. As a big Nintendo fan, what do you think makes Nintendo games & characters loved by so many people?
I think Nintendo franchises and their respective characters are loved by a lot of people because they’re colorful, fun, and instantly recognizable.
From the Super Mario Bros, to the elf-like hylian hero Link, to the armor-clad bounty hunter Samus Aran, to the wondrously designed squid kids of Splatoon, and of course the bright yellow mouse-like Pikachu and all its fellow Pokémon, Nintendo has a huge universe full of amazing characters that both kids and adults alike can enjoy!

4. What are some of your favourite classic Nintendo games and why?
Some of my favorite classic Nintendo games include Super Mario Bros. 3, Yoshi’s Island, Donkey Kong County 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest, Kirby Super Star, Donkey Kong ’94, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and so much more.
I grew up with a lot of these games and have nothing but happy memories and experiences with them.
5. First found your page through your amazing amiibo collection! How many do you have now, and do you have a favourite?
I think I probably have well over 100 amiibo at this point! The amiibo collection started in 2014 with Super Smash Bros for the Wii U. I only wanted a few, but they just kept making them, ha-ha!
Growing up we didn’t have a lot of Nintendo collectable memorabilia, so I was super stoked to have cool little figures of my favorite Nintendo characters! I never expected my amiibo collection to get this big, and they still keep making cool figures!

6. Apart from amiibo, what are your most treasured games/merch that you couldn’t part with?
My most treasured merch I probably can’t part with is my Hylian Shield Nintendo New 2DS XL. It’s such a beauty, and I’m glad I got it when I did because those resale prices are ridiculous!

7. Do you have any tips for anyone wanting to start a gaming page on Instagram?
My tips for anyone to start a gaming page on Instagram is to not shoot for content, but to shoot for ingenuity and letting your passion navigate you. It’s challenging to sort of “stand out” from the crowd, but if you be yourself and have a genuine drive to create content and engage with others, you can best believe you will succeed in your goal.
There is no limit to your imagination and your creativity!

8. What franchises or sequels would you like to see on the next Nintendo console?
For the next Nintendo console, I would like to see new entries in the Star Fox and F-Zero series. It’s been too long since we had a proper sequel for those franchises.
9. Yes, definitely want to see more Star Fox! What games are you playing at the moment?
I’m playing too many games now! Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, Splatoon 3, Elden Ring, Armored Core 6, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, the list just keeps going and going!
